Imran Mir (1950-2014), the renowned Pakistani artist, sculptor, and designer, defied conventional paths from the very beginning.  He pursued his artistic dreams by enrolling in art school, despite societal expectations.

After completing his Bachelor's degree at CIAC in 1971, he furthered his education by obtaining a Masters in Communication Design from Canada's prestigious Ontario College of Art.  His time there was marked by significant achievements, including being the first foreign student to win the Governor General's Trophy of the Year.

Upon his return to Pakistan in 1978, Imran Mir introduced a style of art that was often considered unconventional, characterized by bold minimalism and modernism.  Although his work initially left art critics puzzled, he later earned recognition for his daring experiments with color and form. He referred to his works as 'Papers' on modern art, treating each body of work as seriously as a theoretical paper.

Imran Mir's professional achievements extended beyond the realm of art.  He established the first design unit within a prominent publication house, receiving accolades such as the INPA (International Newspaper Publication) awards.  His influence extended to the broader design community, earning him the reputation as Pakistan's premier design guru.

Beyond his individual successes, Imran Mir played a pivotal role in various educational and philanthropic endeavors.  He co-founded the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi and actively supported the establishment of Pakistan's first Museum of Modern Art.  He was also involved in various philanthropic initiatives, including contributions to The Citizens Foundation.

Imran Mir's legacy transcended art and philanthropy and his creative talents touched some of Pakistan's most iconic brands.  Throughout his life, Mir remained committed to constant evolution and change, leaving an indelible mark on the world of art, design, and philanthropy.
