Untitled (Girl) presents a young girl in profile, adorned in traditional clothes and jewellery, rendered in Pedersen's sweeping expressive style that balances narrative and drama with striking modernity. The work is both classical and timeless, capturing a quiet dignity and charm that feels just as alive today. Born in Copenhagen in 1870, Pedersen trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts before spending two decades travelling through Southeast Asia and India, producing portraits of rulers and ordinary figures alike. Celebrated for his evocative depictions of colonial life, he earned the nickname "The Rajah Painter."
