Born in Freetown, Sierre Leone in 1915. Served with the Sierra Leone Defence Corps in 1939 before joining the RAF. He served as a Navigation Officer and was shot down over Germany. He spent 2 years as a POW. When he was captured the German officer asked him why he was fighting in Europe and he replied “Sierra Leone is part of the Empire and I’m fighting for my King”
He went on to become the Attorney General of Sierra Leone.
