Provenance

John Scott Everton (1908-2003), former United States ambassador to Burma (1961-1963);
Thence by descent

John Scott Everton was an ordained Baptist minister, college administrator, and executive with the Ford Foundation. He first visited India shortly after World War II as a representative of the American Friends Service Committee working on famine relief. He returned to India many times throughout his career which led him to positions in Burma, Turkey, Indonesia, and Taiwan. From 1961-1963 he was the United States Ambassador to Burma (Myanmar).
