Anwar has been working on this piece for over 40 years. The black-and-white images are drawn from contemporary newspapers, depicting scenes of police, violence and death. Among them is a row of mugshots showing young men who have disappeared. Although their fate remains unspoken, everyone knows what has happened to them. Their faces echo the phases of the moon, which Anwar paints across the sky to evoke the passage of time.

The two men are also central to the narrative. One gazes down melancholically over a landscape, while the other carries a Komodo dragon—a monster with which he, and perhaps the other man too, must learn to live.
