The scene is derived from Plate 25, “Gate leading to a Musjed, at Chunar Ghur”, of Thomas & William Daniell’s “Oriental Scenery and Views in Hindoostan : Part I”, published by Robert Bowyer, at the Historic Gallery, Pall Mall, London, between 1795 and 1807. The underside of the tureen base bearing the impressed Maker’s Mark, ROGERS, together with what looks like an impressed letter L. The source print, together with a plate in this pattern, { Sack 2-12 } may be viewed in Michael Sack’s “India on Transferware”, Pages 40 / 41.
