Jamaican Pilot. Born 24th August 1925 in Kingston Jamaica.
Volunteered on the HMS Hawking, a mine sweeper when he was only 16 ½ years old and accepted (1941). He resigned from the Royal Navy in 1943 and volunteered for service in the RAF Air Resistance Unit.
He came back to England on the troopship Almanzora in 1947. At first it was awful when he saw signs put up saying ‘No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs’ and for quite a while slept in the Underground. He formed a singing group called the Southlanders and was proud to be a Londoner.
