This portrait is of the art dealer and owner of Gallery One, Victor Musgrave (1919-1984). Souza had a number of shows at Gallery One from 1955-1963, before leaving for Eric Estorick’s Grosvenor Gallery in 1964. Musgrave was one of the leading art dealers in the city, exhibiting a number of artists in London for the first time, including Yves Klein and Rufino Tamayo. He was the first dealer to show the work of Bridget Riley, and was a supporter or Art Brut.
